IRMO, SOUTH CAROLINA – Southland Log Homes, manufacturer of America’s favorite log home, was recognized for having the South Carolina Web Site of the Week by the South Carolina Business Review. The Business Review is a radio program heard each weekday morning on South Carolina’s ETVRadio Network, which includes eight NPR affiliate stations. The web site, SouthlandLogHomes.com, was named when Southland was featured on the September 2 edition of the program.

Southland CEO Ken Sekley was interviewed by Business Review host Mike Switzer in a discussion that included Southland’s status as the nation’s largest log home manufacturer, as well as the role that log homes play in the green construction movement. “Both the renewable materials that go into a Southland log home and the home’s overall energy efficiency are important elements of its ‘green’ position”, said Sekley, Southland’s CEO.

Recent independent testing of a Southland log home indicates that Southland’s materials and designs can be used to qualify Southland log homes for ENERGY STAR certification. ENERGY STAR is a widely recognized U.S. government program that certifies homes (and other products) that achieve significant energy savings.
